'Alexander' and Global knowledge of Macedonia
'Alexander' and Global knowledge of Macedonia
slunk Sorry if you guys are sick of this topic but.... I'm giving a seminar on sociological implications of Oliver Stone's 'Alexander' and I am looking for some opinions on various matters. Thinking of the controversy around the movie presenting a Greek view of Alexander and Macedonia, do you view the movie as a good or bad thing for the rest of teh western world to be seeing? What I'm getting at is that in the short term view it may not turn many people around to the Macedonian view but in the long run any publicity is good. Getting 'Macedonia' into people's minds is the first step in getting a globally recognised identity. Any thoughts?
dejan Good luck on your seminar and i am glad that you chose such a topic:) The movie would be confusing to someone who know's very little about the Greek-Macedonian issue, because firstly we are presented with 'Macedonia(n)' then 'Greece/Greek' I view the movie as a bad influence for the Western world. Anyway i didn't enjoy the movie that much, the director tried to do something symbolical with that eagle but it just didn't work out for him i think:\ www.historyofmacedonia.org has good information about how wrong the movie was slunk[;)]
Christian What was started a century ago is presented in the movie.
