The internship will take place at MCIC's headquarter in Skopje, Macedonia . The internship position is unpaid, but accommodation and daily travel expenses will be covered. MCIC is not able to provide travel costs to Macedonia as well a costs related to medical and travel insurance. The internship will run for a period of 3 to 6 months starting on January 2006 or based on individual agreement between the candidate and MCIC. Expected tasks: · to assist in organizing, administering ongoing BCSDN projects; · to be responsible for managing individual project stages or task of related to BCSDN projects (incl. coordination with BCSDN partners, organization of activities, administration); · to assist in developing information-sharing activities (including identification, selection and editing of relevant news articles, help with up-dating BCSDN website); · to conduct targeted research on different issues for the needs of BCSDN. The intern will assist and be responsible to the Coordinator of the BCSDN Secretariat. Intern profile: · Graduate or post-graduate student in area of international relations, political science, development, or experienced NGO activist; · Interested, motivated on working on regional issues; · Good knowledge of civil society and some knowledge on civil society in the region; · Excellent knowledge in spoken and written English; · Good computer skills (Word, Excel, Internet, Power Point and web editing); · Flexible, resourceful, confident, team player and able to assist with a variety of different tasks simultaneously; · Good communication skills; · Knowledge of local languages (Macedonian, Serbian, Croatia, Bosnian, Albanian, Bulgaria, Romanian) preferred and previous experiences in working with CSOs preferred. ECMI and Roms in South East Europe In the context of conducting the first global needs assessment of the Romani population of Macedonia in 2003, ECMI undertook a similar project in Serbia & Montenegro in fall 2004. Follow-on initiatives in both Macedonia and Serbia are currently underway. As the projects#180; second and first years (respectively) conclude with calendar year 2006, an external evaluation is required to assess the projects#180; success in generating the expected results.
