Electricity Import to Macedonia Increases Eight Times

Skopje. Macedonia is dependant on the import of electricity. This fact was also proved by the government yesterday, Macedonian newspaper Dnevnik reads today.
“There is a constant growth in Macedonia’s energy balance in the period 2000 – 2005. In 2000 the electricity import was 287 million kilowatt-hours (4,4%). The forecast for this year is an import of 2,995 million kilowatt-hours (33,53%)”, government statement reads.
In order to satisfy the energy demand some small and big hydroelectric power stations are planned to be built during the next period, the newspaper adds.
