Joakim Krcovski and Kiril Pejcinovik introduced the ideas and sentiments of Enlightenment and rationalism. After them, the development of Macedonian Literature has been marked by the work of Dimitar and Konstantin Miladinov, Grigor Prlicev, and Rajko Zinzifov from the period of the middle of the 19th century. It was further developed in the 20th century by Vojdan Cernodrinski, Nikola Kirov - Majski and Atanas Razdolov. Then the development of Macedonian Literature continued with Koco Racin, who is considered to be the founder of the modern literature. The first post-war generation of Macedonian poets, prose writers and playwrights included Blaze Koneski, Aco Sopov, Slavko Janevski, Vlado Maleski and Kole Casule. The new generation of Macedonian writers which appeared in the early 1950s, encompassing among others Gane Todorovski, Mateja Matevski, Dimitar Solev, Ante Popovski, Boris Visinski and Simon Drakul is still very active today. They were followed by a wider group of talented authors, from which we can single out Zivko Cingo, Petre M. Andreevski, Radovan Pavlovski, Jovan Koteski e.t.c. slasa MAKEDONSKIOT JAZIK VO GRCIJA E REALNOST (Prezemeno od Utrinski vesnik, avtor Dimitar ^ulev) “^etirieset milioni lu|e vo Evropa, ili deset otsto od vkupnoto naselenie na kontinentot, govorat na jazik razli~en od oficijalniot vo nivnite nacionalni dr`avi i Grcija vo toj pogled ne e isklu~ok. Vedna{ pobaraa formirawe komitet i vo januari godinava e formiran Gr~kiot komitet. Samo kako primer, vo Grcija 150 iljadi lu|e go koristat turskiot jazik, a okolu 200.000 vla{kiot. Na jugot na Italija ima gr~ko jazi~no malcinstvo i toj jazik, kako i albanskiot, ve}e e vlezen vo italijanskiot obrazoven sistem.

Thunder from down under Six years on, a Kennett government directive is over - ruled By Farrah TOMAZIN and Adrian ROLLINS Victorias Macedonian community has won a six - year battle against the Victorian Government over the naming of its language. The High Court on Friday overruled a 1994 directive from the Kennett government to refer to the Macedonian community as Slav-Macedonian and refer to the Macedonian language as Macedonian (Slavonic). The issue has been a source of tension between the Greek Macedonian community and Macedonians from the Balkan state of FYROM (Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia), culminating in a series of graffiti attacks and firebombing of churches and community centres in 1994. Former premier Jeff Kennett championed the cause of the Greek community, which opposed the use of term Macedonian because of what it said was an implied territorial claim. But Fridays decision - handed down by Chief Justice Gleeson, Justice Calinan and Justice Hayne - paves the way for the Victorian Government to remove the Slav and Slavonic directive from all government literature and references and instead refer to the language as Macedonian. Secretary of the Macedonian Teachers Association, Pandora PETROVSKA, welcomed the decision. Mrs Petrovska said the renaming directive had been implicitly racist and called on the Bracks Government to adhere to restoring the Macedonian language name to its internationally recognised status. We are elated by the High Court win. Over the last six years, Victoria is the only state in the world to issue a directive to change the name of an internationally recognised standard language and then engaged in protracted legal process to uphold a directive that is a potential breach of the racial discrimination act, she said. The current mood in Australia at the moment is about reconciliation. Wed like to have the government move in that direction with us as well... its time for the Macedonian community to be treated equally. Mrs Petrovska said the action had had a serious impact on multicultural language education in Victoria. In all other Australian states the year 12 language exam is referred to a Macedonian, but in Victoria, she said, it had been labelled Macedonian (Slavonic). Its an internationally recognised standard language that there could be no possible confusion with ... but it affected students and its affected teachers in their workplace, she said. We want it removed. We want the language referred to as Macedonian, the way that all other states in Australia refer to it. A government spokesman said the Bracks Government had continued with the case that started under previous administration, but accepted the decision of the High Court. The Age
