f9 Macedonian border guards look for 12 Georgian immigrants 28.11.2004, 03.36 SKOPJE, November 28 (Itar-Tass) – Macedonian border guards are looking for 12 Georgian nationals, who went missing as they attempted to illegally cross the Macedonian border to get into Greece, Macedonian television reported on Sunday. It said information on the illegal immigrants came from a staffer of the Georgian Embassy to Greece, who called the Macedonian border service on November 25 with an unofficial request for help. According to the woman staffer, relatives of the missing Georgians called the embassy and said they had contacted them via mobile phone, saying they had lost their way in the mountains, and asked for help as they were freezing. There have been snowfalls in the mountains this week, and temperatures have dropped to digital figures below zero. There is no information as to how they got into Macedonia. Macedonian police have received no official information or official inquiries from the Georgian Embassy in Athens. Macedonian police confirmed to TV journalists that they had fixed a call from the Georgian Embassy. Border guards have looked for the missing immigrants in forests along the Macedonian-Greek border, but found no traces. They don’t rule out that the Georgians may be staying in another region or not in Macedonia at all, but the search continues.
