| Canmak | Abstract: HLA alleles have been determined in individuals from the Republic of Macedonia by DNA typing and sequencing. HLA-A, -B, -DR, -DQ allele frequencies and extended haplotypes have been for the first time determined and the results compared to those of other Mediterraneans, particularly with their neighbouring Greeks. Genetic distances, neighbor-joining dendrograms and correspondence analysis have been performed. The following conclusions have been reached: 1) Macedonians belong to the ``older'' Mediterranean substratum, like Iberians (including Basques), North Africans, Italians, French, Cretans, Jews, Lebanese, Turks (Anatolians), Armenians and Iranians, 2) Macedonians are not related with geographically close Greeks, who do not belong to the ``older'' Mediterranenan substratum, 3) Greeks are found to have a substantial relatedness to sub-Saharan (Ethiopian) people, which separate them from other Mediterranean groups I don't know much about genetics but if you want to go to the site that I pasted the above info from here it is: http://directory.macedonia.org/mknews/ O'CANADA |

It supports the *purity* of their genes (although we know that they are mixed with albanians and turks), verifies their myths supporting that they passed from Lower Egypt to greece (myth of europa), and they will clearly use it to claim both the egyptian and greek civilization in a nazi-like way, and as a tool to show that ancient macedonians mixed with ancient persians (proved by both history and this 'research'), greeks have common genes with them and not modern macedonians. The papers have a good idea but you can't conclude that from such a small number of people tested. you need at least 10000 samples. it is statistically insignificant |
| Ishmael | No, it says that modern macedonians belong to the "older" mediterranean substram, classified together the rest of the "older" nation likes turks etc. who went to meditteranean in 500-1500AD. Then it says that Greeks probably mixed with Ethiopians (note this are the only survivers of ancient Egypt) at about 2000BC. So, according to this greek propaganda, Greeks are older than "older". Maybe it implies that they are "ancient" and not just an "older" nation. Anyway it gives them a 3,000 years advantage over the modern-macedonians. |
