Celebrating Over 100 Years of Macedonian Filmmaking
We are pleased to announce that on May 27th and 28th, 2006 we'll be
hosting the first ever Macedonian Film Festival held outside of
Macedonia. There will be six screenings of films of various genres
(classic Macedonian films, contemporary feature films and
documentaries) all with English sub-titles. This event will be held at
the Town Hall Theatre of the University of Toronto. All of the films
will be works from directors living in Macedonia or by Macedonians
living in the Diaspora. Select screenings will be followed by a
question and answer period with a director from either Macedonia or
Canada.
There are many very successful ethnic film festivals (Jewish,
Ukrainian, Italian, Asian Syrian) to name a few and we are confident
that the Macedonian Film Festival will be joining their ranks by
becoming an annual event. Toronto and the surrounding areas have
approximately 150,000 ethnic Macedonians and it is time that the
talents of our Macedonian filmmakers from around the world are
showcased to this audience as well as to all Canadian film
enthusiasts.
