Skopje. Macedonia is threatened by energy crisis, Macedonian TV station A1 informs.
The country cannot import enough electricity and there is danger the country to be left in darkness from January to March next year. Swiss, German, Romanian, Bulgarian, British, Czech and Serbia and Montenegrin companies took part in bid for electricity import but they cannot sell Macedonia the 2.6-megawatt hours it needs. The offers are for 30% less.
The price at which the companies sell the electricity is also increasing. It ranges from EUR 23 to EUR 43 for one megawatt hour night rate and from EUR 44 to EUR 69 for day rate.
Macedonia imports 30% of the overall consumption for which it pays EUR 120 million, but these quantities are not certain, A1 notes. |
