| My Day Out (Macedonian Style) | |
| Legal-Eagle | WoW if someone told me about it I would never have believed it, but the following is a first hand account of events[:D] I spent the annual picnic day up the bay, bev na "sred selo"[:D] under duress.[}:)] What I saw there bewildered me and amused me so much that I wanted to crawl under a rock at first, but afterall, Australia is a free country and allows its citizen to do what they like as long as there is no contravention of law. So here we are at one of the most beautiful bays in the country, eating a seafood lunch at the Marina, swamped by Macedonians enjoying pecheni piperki on the BBQ down by the bay, when around 12.30pm I hear the beating of a distant drum [:0] YEAP, the macedonian band had arrived and were making their way up the boardwalk with an a group of flag waving patriots to the following song .... Edna misla pusta vodi Avstralija ke se odi Ke rabotam vo tugina Barem nekoja godina Koga pari ke specalam[:D] Doma pak jas ke se vratam (AS IF[}:)]) Vo rodna Makedonija Kaj mojata familija Dojdov tuka vo tugina Najgolema dalechina Ozeni se, za bordjise Cheda svoji na rodise Kujka pravi, deca uchi Otplatuvaj, doplatuvaj Taka pravi leto / zime Zivot teche vreme mine Koga sakav da se vratam Deca svoji porasnale Shkoli uchaat jazik znaat Za vrakajne i ne mislaat Tatkovina zemjo mila Da se vratam nemam sila [}:)] Zaroben sum vo tugina Takva e moja sudbina Pari zbiraj za shteduvaj (how about a bank loan or a compensation pay out?)[:D] Stari kraj ti za minuvaj Stara majka ushte chekaa Zivot mine popoleka Kolku mozhi po nachesto Posetuvaj rodno mesto So svojata familija Vo svojata Makedonija ahhhhhh how cute [:I] Everyone stopped what they were doing and formed a ring-a-round-the-posie to dance. They were proudly displaying the Macedonian flag, with an apple speared through the middle. Others reached for their wallets to reward the musicians "handsomely" (all of $5) for their efforts on a Public Holiday. The surrounding NON-MACEDONIANS were out-numbered, and left hastily to find shelter away from the crowd. They sure cleared the bay, My friends had to hold me down to contain my excitement NOT[:D]... You could play "Spot-the-Aussie" and be hard pressed in doing so... You could hear "opa iha", "Op Op Op", "Samo Napred", "Jasha re Jasha", "MA-KE-DON-IJA, MA-KE-DON-IJA, MA-KE-DON-IJA" reverbing around the bay ... And then we have the hide to complain about the Aborigines and their corroborees[}:)] I cant get that song out of my head it was played about 20 times in the hour. The irony was the "muzika" was taken from a very popular Greek "tshiftetelli" dance. Well i have to admit, I could not be contained much longer and joined the soiree, much to my amazement my legs did not disappoint me.[:D][:D] I remembered how to do the ORO with a few tshiftetelli dance twists thrown in for good measure[^]... so I guess that makes me MACEDONIAN[:D] (kind of anyway.[^]) Much to my disappointment "Marjoh" was leaving the harbour and even though Dad is the Skipper, he waits for NO ONE[:(] I reluctantly boarded the cruiser and sailed away, as I looked back I saw the MACEDONIANS still in the their glory the last song that I could make out audibly was ... Ogan da go gori, koj ke mi zbori da te zaboravam ... MAKEDONIJOOOOOO [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D] WOW the wonders of being a Macedonian In Australia [8D] So what did you all do "Macedonian Style" over the Chrissie Break ... Please keep it clean chaps[8D] |

As for the inconsistency, there is an Aussie flag in the crowd but it wasn't caught on this particular picture [:)] By the way, where was the photo taken, judging by the Brisbanian version of abbreviating Macedonia/n into MASO I suspect the place of action was Brisbane, eh? OH MY GOD! now dont get me wrong ... my friends have been exposed to the Macedonian dancing for the passed 28years since I was inch high to a grasshopper ... but ... what we saw there on Christmas night (being 7th January) was beyond human comprehension. | fumfudge | Well, from what I heard at the time, the only shameful, inappropriate and irresponsible behavior on the part of the fans of Preston MAC Lions was that they unfurled the national flag of Macedonia in front of the extremely sensitive eyes of the Athenians, which action of course, precipitated the fight between the two crowds. Preston MAC even got fined by the VSF, which I think is horrible, I guess our team didn't have decent legal represention in the case, if any at all. About the fight, as any fight that involves desecration of personal/national symbols (name, flag, coat of arms etc.) it's natural that our boys had fought like fanatics and beat the living bull out of the Athenians, which I suppose was later used as a basis for the accusations made against the fans and Preston MAC. And what surprised me is that lots of Maco people firmly believed that it was a mistake on our part unfurling the flag in the game, can anyone explain to me why? It may help me avoid similar incidents in the future by concealing the fact that I am a Macedonian in front of the people that may get insulted by that, or even worse, may get totally out of hand, and I certainly don't want to get my arse sued for saying I was a Maco or flying my flag in front of the wrong people, do I? | graf | What a weekend. At Bryon Bay. This place is full of backpackers and hippies. Lots of nice girl’s hehehehe. We stayed at a backpacker’s place which was great, so much fun. We arrive Friday night. And that’s when the party started. I recommend the CLUB CHECKY MONKEY. This is a club/pub. Where u can dance on the tables or look at the girls hehehehe. But there are so many bloody poms and Canadians heheheh.. The water and the beach is the better. It shits over NOOSA and Gold Coast. The water is slightly colder but it is so clean. On Saturday me and my mate woke up and said lets go on a road trip. So we drove to NIMBA. This is a famous village where are not illegal. No shit we had about 30 ppl trying to sell us from CHOC-CHIP HASH COOKIES to CRACK COCIAN hehehehe. I felt so special. On the last night we all sat around and had a little comedy night. We went to a different club. For the techno guys and girls this club is called C MOSS. This by far was the best for me. Fully sick!!! Like I was totally hammered and wearing my BLACK GLASSES (I am a WOG). And all these ppl were coming up to me and saying man what u on, u want to sell some hahahahaahh. Then when the music started lelele I was in front of everybody (on the stage) going OFF jumping around doing the OP PA HE HA HA !!!! I was getting the the crowd going off. All these ppl were saying here u go man u deserve this drink . I felt so special hehehe. Next time I go there I will do suffering for $40. !!!! Even HANG-GLIDING !!!!! |

This is a time of turmoil... not knowing what is going to happen tomorrow, next week and even next month. In an indirect way this is filtering down to our everyday living, and thus you see those frustrations come out in the most unexpected places. Yes there has always been some animosity between the Greeks and the Macedonians... but the issue goes far beyond a simple soccer game. For many years the Macedonians were persecuted by the Greeks. The most prosperous part of Greece is Macedonia. Without Macedonia Greece would never survive. Did you people not hear of all the fuss that was going on when Macedonia declared itself independant... Greece would not allow us to use the word "Macedonia" as our country name. Although eventually they allowed us by way of signed agreements they relented and allowed us to use "Macedonia Former Yugoslav republic Of..." or hence FYROM. Can you imagine the ramifications if we were allowed to just keep Macedonia. Greece and Bulgaria would lose part of thier country. I have nothing against anyone of any cultural background or religious beliefs... but I do have a thing against other people that try to impose thier beliefs unto that of others. This is where I draw the line. So in a small way this eventually filters down to our everyday living and magnifies itself when we are passionate about some like sport. Look at India for cricket.... or Brazil for the soccer... or New Zealand for the Rugby Union.
