Planetarium brings together an impressive cast of 15 dancers, 8 from the OMO Dance Company and 7 from the Macedonian National Theatre, combining the distinctive styles of two cultures and blending them into a strong statement of solidarity. The work was inspired by Kiro Urdin’s epic painting "Planetarium" which was created in 37 locations around the globe. Planetarium is a search for the essence and commonalities of man, emphasizing the collective experience. Wilson has spent the past six months traveling between Canada and Macedonia, creating movement sequences and allowing each dancer the time to realize their own personal strengths. Her goal has been to find the individual within the group and then to combine those individuals into a cohesive group. Serafimov’s music is characterized by his fusion of cultures, creating melodic and haunting scores that move the soul. His Planetarium score is a wonderful journey into the entire spectrum of human emotions. Turpin has combined Canadian haute couture with traditional Macedonian costuming, deconstructing the elements and combining them into a fresh new look. She has also incorporated designs from students of Claude Watson School for the Arts. Urdin has been the catalyst of the entire project while Trenaman is the glue that ties together the visions of these strong creators. The entire evening features the collaborative works of Wilson, Serafimov, Turpin & Trenaman. Also on the program are Aphrodite Unveiled which celebrates the life force of women and features Artist Nada Sesar-Raffay, as well as Dora Mavor Moore nominated Homo Office Sapiensis which parallels modern world with primitive man.
