To all Associates who Receive/Ship Packages:
Please be aware of a security alert that we have received regarding UPS. At the present time we have no way of confirming the following information but should heighten our awareness to always ask for proper identification if you do not know the courier. $32,000 worth of UPS BROWN UNIFORMS has been purchased over the last 30 days of person(s) unknown on e-bay. Law enforcement is working the case however no suspect(s) have been identified. Subjects may try to gain facility access by wearing these uniforms.
Based on this information, associates receiving/shipping packages should adapt the following procedures:
If the courier is known by you, continue business as normal. If the courier is a substitute driver or is unknown by you, ask for identification and if unable to provide, call UPS directly to confirm this individual is a UPS employee. If proof of identity cannot be confirmed to your satisfaction, decline delivery and notify your security manager or site manager immediately.
The local UPS phone number for your location should be visibly posted and associates should know where it is. If you are unable to obtain your local UPS phone number you can call UPS at 1-800-742-5877 and ask for your local office. Please keep in mind that although this message is referring to UPS we should practice the same procedures with all couriers.
