(Dnevnik, 26.06.2003) - Film project "Soul Hunter", which will be done according to the script of the novel by Oliver Del Rio (artistic name of Oliver Romevski), is to be shot at locations in Macedonia in November. The pre-production preparations are ongoing (casting, selection of locations), in the wait for the "green light" for part of the film budget by the Ministry of Culture.
According to Romevski, the preparations are going great, and right after the signing of the agreement with the Ministry of Culture, Hollywood actor Jean-Claude Van Damme will arrive in Skopje (famous from the film hits "Kick Boxer", "Road to Nowhere" etc), who plays the leading role in the film. The agreement with Van Damme was signed via producers’ house "Ken Production" from Korea, which is the film co-producer, along with "Ena Film" from Germany and executive producer "Del Rio Films" from Macedonia.
"I am satisfied from the preparations so far. Everything is going on in a professional manner and we are waiting for the funds from the Ministry of Culture. State Secretary Gorjan Tozija contacted director of "Ena Film" Vesna Jovanovska, and I hope that the funds will be transferred shortly", Romevski said.
Around 80% of the scenes will be shot in Macedonia, which is the percentage of Macedonian funds invested in the film. Filming is also envisaged in Poland and Germany. The casting for the female leading role and another male role is still ongoing among the European film stars.
"Soul Hunter" will be a high-budget film of Euro 2,5 million. The Ministry is to provide Euro 1,200,000. German author of Bulgarian origin Dennis Sutton is the director and director of photography. He has already realized 40 films, four of them with "Ena Film".
The film genre is action-adventure, and according to the announcements of Romevski, it will be the first Macedonian film in Hollywood. The story begins when ten US soldiers vanish from a base located at border region Sara. The characters in the story are of different ethnic and religious origin. According to Romevski, it provides, "a on-occasional, symbolic development of events, and the story alludes to a primordial evil, which is implemented in Macedonia".
The post-production will be done in Germany. Macedonian singer Tose Proeski will sing part of the music, and will also have a role in the film. The video-clip of Proeski appeared recently, which includes rehearsing scenes for "Soul Hunter".
