Best time to go: September to April, autumn is the best time for weather
Las Vegas, literal translation 'The Meadows' offers visitors just about everything except meadows!
A stroll along this sparkling fast-growing metropolis will take you past replicas of the Eiffel tower, Egyptian pyramids and ancient Roman palaces, all features of Las Vegas’ various themed hotels. Each hotel seems more jaw-droppingly lavish and over the top than the last, and it would seem that moderation is not a word that is often used in Las Vegas.
The Strip at the centre of Las Vegas is a three and a half mile stretch of dazzling, unending decadence, illuminated day and night by miles of neon tubing and incandescent fibre optic lights.
As well as casinos, you will find excellent shopping and dining and spectacular shows.
Lovers in need of a quickie can take part in a drive through wedding and be back at the roulette table within an hour.
It is difficult to believe that this 'Entertainment Capital of the World' was not even recognised as an official town until 1905.
Prior to that it was little more than a barren and unforgiving desert valley, and for many years, strict anti-gambling laws meant that it was illegal even to flip a coin for the price of a drink.
Clearly, all that has changed, and Las Vegas now represents gambling, gambling and more gambling.
Those cynics that say that Las Vegas lacks spirituality, don’t realise that for those who worship money and greed, Las Vegas is the closest they will get to heaven on earth.

| n/a | I love Vegas my parents just bought a house out there and it was cheap for a house. By the way has anyone seen the Tom Jones Show? I actually wanted to know where Tom Jones is performing cuz I want to get tickets to his show. I bought his cd and I love his songs and I thought it would be cool see him in concert. Actually I am listening to it right now! This album has his greatest hits of his time and includes remixes with Wyclef, Van Morrison, stereophonics and so many others.
