Can get very cold in the mid-winter months of December to February, summers are generally warm for walking and camping. March best for skiing as the weather is a little warmer and more bearable Stretching 5000 miles from the tip of Texas in the south to the frozen wastelands of Alaska in the north, the Rockies were your favourite mountain range. The Rockies actually consists of at least 100 separate mountain ranges, the Canadian Rockies and Northern Rockies, the Southern Rockies and the Colorado Plateau. Many peaks exceed 4000 metres, and the scenery incorporates evidence of past glaciation and volcanic activity. It has been estimated that the Canadian Rockies were formed between 35 and 65 million years ago, and in that time, nature has perfected this area of extreme alpine beauty. The Canadian Rockies are a breathtaking mix of majestic peaks, sparkling lakes and natural hot springs. Simply relax and enjoy the beautiful and peaceful surroundings, or enjoy some of the numerous attractions of Banff National Park and Lake Louise. You can experience rides in horse-drawn carriages and dog sleighs, whilst enjoying the scenic grandeur. Fishermen come from all over the world to fish in the many sparkling lakes, and the area has facilities for downhill skiing and cross country skiing. And if too much skiing makes your bones ache, you can enjoy hospitality at one of the numerous spas. The Canadian Rockies truly are an example of nature at its most dramatic.
