Following their footsteps, at the age of 9, Igor Trajkov became the youngest Macedonian football player. Since the last season, he’s been defending the colors of the junior team of the world-class Dutch football club Ajax, on the green field of Amsterdam Arena. Igor just turned 12 and the football analysts consider him the future star of Ajax. “I do not have to say much about myself,” Igor modestly retells. “I came to Holland at the age of two. Of course I do not recall how my parents moved here to Utrecht. I visit Macedonia and my native Strumica every year. It’s the best place for a vacation. I learned to play football from my brother, who plays for the soccer club Harlem. I came to Ajax from Elinvejk. But, Igor has other clubs on his mind… “Real from Madrid [Spain] is my favorite club and, of course, I’d love to play for them at least as much I’d love to wear the red-and-golden dress of the Macedonian national team,” says Igor. Igor is happy to visit Spain in the early season, and that his parents and brother Gjorgji (Gjoko) will be in the audience. Igor admits that he is “very happy on the account of the presence of the Macedonian flag with the sun in the audience.
