[:D] Yeah its around the corner with some great off season signings by two teams.
Detroit went all defense while there western conferance nemisis the avalanche went all offense.
Who will win? Of course the RedWings will win the cup next year.
Now we just have to trade that bust of a goalie named Cujo cause the dominator is back[:D] |
Canmak |
Hatcher is gone for 4 to 6 months...but our D is still great. Regardless Hasek looks like he is back to his old self. |
Canmak |
True Yzerman is now hurt
But look at it this way.....the Wings are leading the league in offense with Ray Whitney, Darren McCarty and Zetterberg out......wait till those guys come back healthy as well as Yzerman.
Darian Hatcher is going to be back as well to shore up the already best D in the league, Dominick Hasek has had groin problems but has shown signs of his old self.....give him more time.
Who is going to stop Detroit in the playoffs .......no one can.
Once again Joseph was placed on waivers and once again no one picked him up.....but there is talk of possibly Jagr or Lang coming to Detroit....the two teams that are mentioned for these two players are Detroit and The New York Rangers...I would rather have Lang then Jagr since Lang is the big center that detroit is lacking....but none the less Jagr would be a great fit as well.
And when that final piece of the puzzle is met...we will become a dynasty[:p] |
Canmak |
There are teams still interested in Cujo. What I see happening is maybe Detroit trading him for a couple of first round picks, an average center and thats about it.
People are interested in Cujo its just up to Detroit to decide who gets him and what they get for him.
Vancouver has no goalie, can't see them going far.
The "D" of detroit is probally the best Defence assembled of all time.....with one of the greatest goalies of all time in net. Our forwards are not crap.....people think that Fedorov leaving is a major problem....it is not....sure I would love to have him but I think we will be much stronger on defence and we will be just as great on offense |
Astibus |
Canmak Vancouver picked up Hedberg he's pretty good i mean he's no hasek but i still think he's a positive for them and for cloutier because now he knows that there is a pretty good goalie waiting for him to fuck up i think this will drive him to become better.
|
Canmak |
Well Boston signed Felix Potvin, So Cujo will not be going there....now what does Detroit do....do they let Cujo go on waivers and hope that Colorado doesn't pick him up or do they shop him around to others?
Regardless The Sporting News ranks Ottawa to win the cup followed by Detroit and Colorado....I still think the Redwings are winning it all |
Canmak |
The list of injuries keeps getting worse and worse.....there are now 10 players injured, including both are goalies....Joseph is called back up, as is Juri Hudler another great rookie.
Steve Thomas is going to be out for 4 to 6 weeks.....Knee surgery
Its ok we will be fine when it matters |

Even with 10 players injured we still win tonight 7-2 |
Strelec |
yeah... good one...:)
|
Canmak |
Hedberg is still no #1 goalie, and to make it far in the playoffs you need a #1 goalie besides I can't see Vancouver going far in the playoffs....they are a one line team.......last year they were lucky much like the ducks/wild were.
What are they going to do against the teams that can assemble 3 lines or throw 3 defensive pairings at that one line.
The cup is going through Colorado or Detroit. |
Astibus |
:)Man im thinking Vancouver is the sneak attack team of the year, they're pretty solid all the way through, they also picked up magnus arvedson and jiri slegr, they have everything you need.....young players, good coach,2 alright goalies and plenty heart and drive.
Im thinking the avalanche will be like the rangers buyin up all the players but it wont do jack and detroit lost fedorov which is huge no matter how you cut it.
I'm praying for a Toronto-Vancouver Cup Finals i'd settle for Toronto-Detroit but i dont think the wings will make it past the second round:)

Nah, The wings will meet Colorado in the final for the western conferance.......both teams are just loaded with talent.
Vancouver is a great young team, there is no doubt about it but they just don't have the talent to match the two powerhouses mentioned above.
I just can just see it now.....Colorado scoring like mad this year all season long until the playoffs when they get shut down by Detroits Defence |
dirtdan76 |
Canmak, the Wing's are stuck with CuJo. No one wants an old, injured, and unproven $8 million dollar goalie. As for CuJo, he got what was coming to him. Leaving his home town team for an arch rival. As for winning the cup, who cares what you think 'cause the Wings won't do it. Either will the Leafs--unfortunately. It will be that young team from the West.....the Vancouver Canucks! |
Astibus |
Hasek is a fugitive :) how does it feel having a violent criminal as your goalie jimbo:) |

Leafs will never win a cup in our life time...the owners are to cheap and well they don't have no stars other then Sundin, look for the cup to come back to the west this year. Detroit or Colorado ...rumour is the Roy might be coming back to colorado to make another run for the cup

So is BELFOUR allowed in the states this year?[:p] Or does his criminal record actually keep him out?
Regardless the Czech authorities said that no charges will be laid against Hasek.

Toronto Maple Leafs have re-signed restricted free agent defenceman Bryan McCabe to a one year contract.
McCabe, 28, played 75 games for Toronto last season collecting 24 points (six goals, 18 assists) with 135 penalty minutes. He finished first on the team in shorthanded assists (3-tie), third in average ice time (23:38), third in penalty minutes, fourth in shorthanded points (3) and fifth in shots (149). |

Yeah that was reported in the Toronto Media....but never trust the toronto media when it comes to the Detroit Redwings.....he is out 6 weeks and it looks like he will be heading to boston....rumour has it that it will be a 3 way trade involving the blues.....looks like Doug Weight is on his way to Detroit or it could be Samsanov from boston.....who knows but I do know that Hasek will be the best goalie in the league once again....Detroit wouldn't give up Cujo if they didn't think so.

So I seen Toronto had a good start against montreal[:D][:D][:D]
Yzerman is palying awesome [:)] |

Im happy for Yzerman as for Toronto they make me sickeven though theyre winning right now.
Kaberle is afraid to shoot someone needs to tell the guy he's holding a hockey stick and not an AK its alright to shoot he's not killing anyone except for maybe the goalie's career, im so frustrated man look at our defense :))))))))))))) #1(if we were a minor league team).
|
Canmak |
Yzerman has played great these first two games, the only thing thats scaring me is that I believe all of our goals have come on the power play (except one I believe) we need to score with out the powerplay as well.
So Toronto still winless........ah you leaf fans you will support that team even if it was a team full of beer league players. |
Astibus |
Im afraid to say it but i think some of the leafs lack heart, they're doing more whining than winning theyve gotta change their attitude instead of trying to always be the victim i say they should now play the role of martyr its better than victim, let the ref's murder you with penalties and still win games its like spitting in their faces if i was pat quin thats what i'd be sayin to my players.

Mogilny, Antropov, Belak...Mogilny hurts that is for sure, I actually think he is the best player Toronto has. Belak and Antrapov are useless players on detroit they wouldn't even play.
Lets look at Detroits injuries this year
Zetterberg: A rising star, according to some he is going to be like Forsberg....put him and Datsyuk together with Hull again and there is one great line
Ray Whitney: Believe it or not he has finished in the top 10 for points pers season the last 4 or 5 years....he has actually finished ahead of Federov the last 3 or 4 years.......put him with Yzerman, Shanahan and you have a great line as well
Darren McCarty: Not a all star but is a member of Detroits grind line.....this is the line of Maltby and Draper......when the superstars don't play these guys usually pick it up. The grind line was very instrumental in Detroits cup wins.
Tomas Holmstrom: No player has a presence like he does in front of the net, he is not a pure goal scorer but he pisses off opposing teams and goals are scored usually because he is blocking the opposing goalies view
Steve Yzerman: You can argue that after Gretzky and Lemuex no other player has meant so much to a team like Stevie Y has....he is the heart of Detroit and everyone knows it (except Federov[xx(]).....Listed Day to day but one must remember he just came off a knee operation that should have ended his career.
Dominik Hasek: Groin injuries have affected him all year, plays one game then misses two
Darrien Hatcher: One of the top Defencemen in the league, is a huge presence on the blue line....regardless Detroits Defence is deep and the likes of Schnieder and Wooly have picked up there play
Chris Chelios: yeah I know he is old but for the most part we do have old players on the team....he is a great defencemen (top ten in the league for sure) listed as day to day for now
Thats 8 Key players on the Wings that are hurt and we are still near the top of the league, we are tied for division lead with St.Louis but they have played 4 games more then us....so basically we are doing better then them. I think maybe 4 or 5 teams are ahead of us in points......but no team has suffered injuries this year like the wings have. Regardless when they all come back.....I honestly feel we are the best team in the league......I still think we are the best with all them players injured.
Steve Thomas has been a great pick up this year and some of our other young players that have been called up like Mowers and Robinson have also picked up there play.
Now on to Lang/Jagr......Detroit Doesn't need a wing.......they need a dominant center a big center we need to throw a big line out in the playoffs to hurt people and Shanahan/Lang/Holmstrom would be a huge line ......all those players are big boys and they can throw there bodies around.....Imagine that line going against the likes of Bertuzzi and his boys in Vancouver. |
Strelec |
The wings can pick up my grandpa for the next season… he’ll be a free agent… and he is maybe younger than your BEST EIGHT players…:)
Just look at!
Brendan Shanahan, 1969
Brett Hull, 1964
Nicklas Lidstrom, 1970
Mathieu Schneider, 1969
Steve Yzerman, 1965
Jason Woolley, 1969
Steve Thomas, 1963
Dominik Hasek, 1965
There are the great future of the wings…:)
|
Canmak |
30 to 35 is not old for a defenceman
Our future lies in Jiri Fisher, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Grigorenko( which is injured from a sever car crash but was MVP at the world juniors) and a couple of other young players.
I think Datsyuk and Zetterberg are great already and whith a Healthy Grigorenko coming soon the Wings will be fine.......remember Detroit is a great team because it is active in the free agent market.....something Toronto sucks at.....toronto also sucks at Drafting as well[:p]

Hull: Datsyuk most talented in NHL
Datsyuk
Brett Hull wasn't far off when he told the Detroit Free Press Dec. 12 that Pavel Datsyuk "might be the most talented guy in the league. He's awesome." The Red Wings have been hammered with 10 injuries to regulars and Datsyuk, just 25, continues to pile up the points. After a two-point performance in Chicago Dec. 11 that gave him five points in two games, Datsyuk has 15 goals and 18 assists for 33 points, tops on the Wings and fifth best in the NHL ahead of Jaromir Jagr. "He was incredible," coach Dave Lewis said in the newspaper. "He should be an All-Star." Defenseman Mathieu Dandenault concurred. "I don't know if fans know about him enough yet, because of all of the great Hall of Famers on our team," he told the Free Press. "But I'd give him a nod, because I think he's going to be an All-Star for a lot of years to come |
