Dear fellow Macedonians and friends of Macedonia around the world,
Can you imagine even sports are about politics? I volunteered today for the 2004 Olympics to be held in Greece. I am deeply concerned and disappointed to see FYROM and the Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia repeatedly used throughout the whole application process (http://www.athens2004.gr/page/default.asp?la=2&id=201). Under the question for nationality I put American since I am born in New Jersey, but out of curiosity I wanted to see if they put Macedonian as a choice, and they put FYROM . I did not know there was a nationality - Former Yugoslavian Republican of Macedonia? Also when they asked for license, they put Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia.
What I found funny though throughout this whole application process was that for the question on what language do you speak and write fluently they put Macedonian as a choice. It was also funny that they had two choices, one for Croatian and then one for Bosnian, Serbian, and Croatian as a combination of languages. I did not know what to put. Apparently, according to this application process the Greeks recognize there is a distinct Macedonian language, but not a nationality.
I urge you all to send your comments to the 2004 Olympic Committee in hopes that during the Olympic Games we will be referred to as the Republic of Macedonia and Macedonians and not as FYROM or Former Yugoslavian Republicans of Macedonia. Nonetheless, regardless whether they put FYROM or Macedonia, Macedonians will not hesitate to participate in the 2004 Olympics, and I urge you all to attend and support our team. Go Macedonian Olympic Team!!! Bring home a gold!

my ninja intuition tells me you are bulgarian :)
they did recognise us under Republic of Macedonia ,
but did not recognise our language ,
Bulgarians only created problem for our future generations to deal with
for years to come , they did not do us a favour belive me,

i dont know what sport you going to compete in but i suggest you train more than everyone else and raise the Macedonian flag when you win the gold medal:))) |

Why don't you tell me the name of an author who wrote on the macedonian language before the 20th century? |

You a welcome to make a comment on why was Macedonian language not recognise by bulgarians.
nobody can write a language mamesh its something you inherit from ancestors.
