How did YOU learn macedonian?
How did YOU learn macedonian?
Juan Hey everyone! I had prepared a long speech about the subject question but I accidentally pressed the "Reset Fields" button [:(!] so I'll keep it brief. I'm using this site as a source for colloquial grammar and phrases and things like that that I could use in spoken Macedonian, hence the lack of posts I've posted. I'm 2 thirds through this teach-yourself-macedonian book which I won't name because I'm not sure of the legal issues of public advertising (it's the RED book, if that helps [:)]) Anyway after I get through that I'm gonna be on my own and so I was wondering whether any of you people out there know any books or sites that teach intermediate+ standard Macedonian. I promise to post more when I can speak the language semi-alright but right now I'm at the Macedonian lingual age of 5 or something. So anyway, this is the question to which ANY answer is appreciated - How would you recommend learning standard (it doesn't necessarily HAVE to be standard) Macedonian? How did you learn it yourself? And if you are Macedonian, what would you recommend to be the best way of self-teaching with books or anything? I guess I should thank you guys in advance for the answers [:)]. Fala mnogu! Juan

Juan Ah thanks for the feedback. BTW (graf) the book that I'm using is the "A Course for Beginning and Intermediate Students by Christina E. Kramer". Canmak: don't think I'm lying because of the cheesy nature of what I'm about to say in response to your question, but I'm learning Macedonian because I like the language, I like the sound of it and I feel like it would be easy & fun to learn (it has so far) because of this romantic connection. Like, I know a Macedonian family through one of my friends at school, and when I was over there (they speak a southern dialect to eachother all the time even when I'm there) I found I got the jist of what they were saying with no body language or anything - I knew 'tato' meant 'dad' somehow, and I knew that the verb one of the was using which I couldn't separate from the sentence at the time meant 'call', among other things. I just think if I enjoy listening to the language then I'm definitely gonna enjoy learning it and speaking it, and I do, so I wanna go further than this book I have. Oh and also, could someone translate and post what Strelec said? I don't get it at all at my level [:I] Thanks for the site Thunder from down under! and thanks for that second book mayauk! Juan

Juan Hey does anyone know where I can get some sort of plugin that can read this mumbo-jumbo that I keep reading on this site? It's cyrillic (I think, it's just meaningless characters) and though I can type cyrillic on Microsoft Word and everything, I don't think I.E. or Mozilla can read it.
graf goto view menu> encoding and select cyrillic (that is if you are using IE)
