Hi everyone. My name is Lindsey and I live in Oklahoma City, OK, US. I am doing a speech for my public address class in college, and I am doing it over the different kinds of food in Macedonia. I was just wandering what kinds of fast food restaurants Macedonia has and maybe a few things about them. Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you![:)] |

I'm not familiar with fast food restaurants in Macedonia but the food yes.
Food suggestions:
Baklava - sweet
Kifla - it's made out of dough filled with cheese
Tolumbi - also sweet
graf - this different way of cooking beans
I think those are the main foods...you'd have to wait for some other people here to reply:) |

Hi SeXyReXy,
Are you of Macedonian heritage, if not, how did you come about Macedonian food?
Macedonian fast food places are not like the McDonald's we have here in the U.S. (By the way, Macedonia does have a few McDonald's restaurants)
Examples of Macedonian fast food:
Burek, is like a meat or cheese pie...........meat or cheese (sirenje in Macedonian) which is layered in between dough similar to Filo Dough. There is a variety of Burek............Burek with white cheese, Burek with meat, Burek with spinach, and Pizza Burek.....which is yellow cheese called kashkaval, ketchup, and ham. Most people eat burek with yogurt.
Toast, is what you can get at a sandwich shop.........Toast usually consists of yellow cheese (kashkaval), ketchup, and ham on pieces of bread or a roll and then it is toasted and flattened on a grill (like the George Foreman Lean Mean Grilling Machine [:D])
Pleskavica, is like a hamburger, but in Macedonia they will put fries (kompiri in Macedonian), ketchup and mayonnaise in the hamburger.
Popular Macedonian Eats:
Ajvar, is a red pepper spread and quite good.............most people eat that with bread and white cheese (sirenje).
Graf, is usually a bean soup and if it's baked in the oven.......it's then called tavche gravche (baked beans).
Pashteta, is pate in Macedonian. In case you don't know what pate is, it's a paste that usually consists of pureed liver.
Boza, an interesting drink that most Macedonians like, ingredients unknown. [:D][:p][:D]
Hope this helps![;)] |
