Quoted from Bulgarian State-Official History:

YEAR 927: After the battle at Acheloi, tsar Simeon proclaimed the Bulgarian church a patriarchate and himself an emperor and autocrat of the Romans. He effectively possessed the power over the European Southeast with the exception of Constantinople, still remaining unconquered.
TSAR SAMOIL IN 997 CREATED NEW MACEDONIAN CHURCH WITH SEATS IN PRESPA AND IN 1004 HE MOVED IT INTO OHRID; IF HE WAS BULGARIAN RULER WHY WOULD HE MADE TWICE THE SAME CHURCH?! ONE NATION COULD HAVE ONLY ONE CHURCH ACCORDING TO THE CHURCH RULES (CATHOLIC, PROTESTANT OR ORTHODOX), SO THIS IS ONE OF THE GREATEST FACTS THAT TSAR SAMOIL WAS MACEDONIAN RULER! |
