| I want to speak Macedonian Better |

Hey everyone. I am a born in Canada Macedonian. My parents who are both macedonian didn't speak enough macedonian in my household as i grew up, i picked up a bit of it, but lately i have had this growing desire to learn to speak it fluently. I'm thinking of taking some classes, but what i was wondering was, do any of you guys know of any internet sites where that show people how to speak some macedonian?

Eve BATKA jas ke mi te naucam Makedonski nese kosi mnogu lesno e aj da nete zamaram uste odma utre vo 8 sato navecer bidi tuka ke zapocneme so prviot skolski cas i nemaj gajle ic .Mora nie od Canada da se drzime zaedno ,nese kosi sega aj cao i procitaj ubavo ova sto ti pisuvam POZDRAV[;)]

Good that you have a desire to learn it.
I only know of one interent site that teaches you Macedonian and it's this one[:p]

Event_horizon my macedonian brother, you see its great that you want to learn your macedonian language, people like you are a minority amongst the macedonian diaspora. You see my friend, the problem with us macedonians is that once we leave macedonia we tend to neglect our culture. Many macedonians that live outside macedonia tend to forget who they are and where they come from. They eather do this because they want to adapt to there new sorroundings, or they do that because they lack real patriotism for there homeland macedonia. I was born in macedonia and sadly, because of the bad perspectives available for me and my brothers in macedonia, my parents brought me to australia, at the age of six years. Till this day they have never spoken a word in english to me. They always speak macedonian to me, and i am very thankfull to them for that. They also tought me that no matter where i live, never to forget my language and my culture, they tought me to love my own people. Your children will become what you bring them up to be. I have grown up to love my macedonian culture, i can speak macedonian even better then i can speak english, even though i grew up in australia and have been in this country for the past 17years. Your parents made a big mistake by not speaking macedonian to you, and the majority of macedonians in the diaspora make that same mistake, not realising that they are contributing to the assimilation of their childrens culture. In cases like yours, most people will grow up not knowing how to speak their native language, and because of that, people in a situation like yours will not know how to teach their kids how to speak macedonian, and wont know much about their culture eather. The end result been this: Assimilation. I see it all around me every day. Half of the macedonians in australia know nothing about the macedonian language, their culture or macedonia. Its not their fault, its their parents fault, their parents are the ones assimilating them, not australian/american etc society, because its there parents who speak a foreign language to them. I am glad that people like you still exist event_horizon. Your parents made a mistake and you want to correct it. The best way for you to learn macedonian better is this... Im sure you have macedonian newspapers in Canada.. start buying them, then start reading them, first of all it will be very hard for you to read them and understand them, but trust me, after a year you will dramatically imrove your macedonian language. All the best to you my fellow macedonian. Always remember, no matter where you live, you belong to the greatest civilisation on earth, The MACEDONIAN civilisation, the oldest country in the world, MACEDONIA! Makedonija e Vecna!! Macedonia is eternal!!! |
