Pi Patel,a God-loving boy and the son of a zookeeper, has a fervent love of stories and practices not only his nativ Hinduism, but also Christianity and Islam. When Pi is 16,his family and their zook animals emigrate from India to North America aboard a japanese cargo ship.Alas, the ship sinks-and Pi finds himself in a lifeboat, his only companions a hyena,an orangutan,a wounded zebra and a 450-pound Bengal tiger.Soon the tiger has dispatched all but Pi.Can Pi and the tiger find their way to land? Can Pi's fear ,knowladge and cunning keep him alive till they do? "Life of Pi could renew your faith in the ability of novelists to invest even most outrageous scenario with plausible life"- The New Yorker "Life of Pi is a real adventure:brutal, tender, expressive, dramatic and disarmingly funny...Its difficult to stop reading when the pages run out."-San Francisco Chronicle ".......These people fail to realize that it is on the inside that God must be defend ,not on the outside. They should direct their anger at themselves. For evil in the open is but evil from within that has been let out.The main battlefield for good is not the open ground of the public arena but the small clearing of each heart.Meanwhile, the lot of windows and homless children is very hard, and it is to then defence, not God's,that the self-righteus should rush. As if small-mindedness did God any good. To me,religion is about our dignity, not our depravity......" Life of Pi by Yann Martel
