Update on Homicide #60/2004

On Sunday, December 19, 2004 at 5:03 p.m. police and emergency personnel responded to an apartment at 746 Midland Avenue, Toronto.
The now deceased was found in the apartment suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene via an electronic link.
The following man was arrested and has been charged with first degree murder.
Aleksander (Alex) Jovanovski, 18.
He will be appearing at the Toronto East Courts, courtroom #412 on Monday, December 20, 2004 at 10:00 a.m.
The investigating officers are requesting the public's assistance in locating the following man:
Chas Ronald Berry, 20, of no fixed address. He is described as black, 6’ 1”, 230 lbs, short afro, beard, wears glasses, last seen wearing dark blue jeans, dark waist length leather jacket, and possibly a black baseball hat.
Chas Berry is considered armed and dangerous and is not to be approached. If seen, the public is cautioned to contact police.
Chas Berry is wanted for the offence of first degree murder.
The deceased has been identified as Andrew Christie, 23 years. Cause of death is pending an autopsy, which is set for December 21, 2004

...They announced the arrest of one man and the name of a second suspect wanted in connection with the shooting death of Andrew Christie, 23, who was gunned down in his Midland Ave. apartment Sunday evening.
Christie's girlfriend opened the door to their apartment at about 5 p.m. Sunday, and two men rushed past her and shot Christie in the head.
Aleksander "Alex" Jovanovski, 18, appeared briefly in the Toronto East courts yesterday...
But the man who police believe may have been behind the trigger is still at large, said Detective Sergeant Rudy Pasini of the homicide squad.
They are urging Chas Ronald Berry, 20, of no fixed address, to give up.
"Mr. Berry, turn yourself in before you get hurt, any police officers get hurt trying to arrest you or members of the public are injured," Pasini said.
He added that police consider Berry armed and dangerous, and warned the public not to approach him. Berry and Christie are known to police, he said.
