Nothing is mentioned about the movie plot on imdb. It is based on the true story of the Salonica assassins (also known as 'the gemidjii'). At the beginning of the 20th century Macedonia was still under Ottoman rule, and many felt that this would not change as a result of apathy from the West. Prior to the Ilinden insurrection in 1903, several Macedonian intellectuals resorted to drastic measures by targeting Western interests in Salonica. They felt that this would attract attention for the Macedonian Cause in the Western media, and possibly set forth a chain of events that may eventually lead to autonomy for Macedonia.
